“SEGEZHA WEST” PROJECT START
1 The Pulp & Paper Industry magazine visited Segezha pulp and paper mill in Karelia
on July 26, 2019 where “Segezha West” reconstruction project was launched. The
volume of investments is estimated at 55 billion rubles. The reconstruction program
provides an enterprise capacity increase up to 850 thousand product tons per year
(in fact, according to the President and Chairman of the Segezha Group, Mikhail Shamolin — up
to 1 million tons). In addition, it is planned to expand the product line and manufacture not only
traditional brown kraftpaper, but also white paper as well as bleached hardwood and softwood

deputies and vice-presidents — took part in ceremonial project launch. The symbolic start of
“Segezha West” project took place at the factory coastline. Memorial stone was installed in a
slab with a seal of the Segezha Group and marked the project start. This site will serve for wood
yard construction. The “Segezha West” project will additionally stimulate business development
in the region. Tax payments to diff erent budgets levels will increase, new jobs will appear, and
company’s environmental indicators will improve.
