Maxim Shuralev, member of the ASPPI Board, took part in the First International Russian-Chinese Scientific and Technical Conference "Plant Raw Materials and Pulp and Paper Technologies"*, which was held from June 25 to June 26, 2024, in Arkhangelsk at the NArFU.
Maxim Shuralev told about modern directions of development of biorefining based on wood raw materials, and also gave a brief overview of the Association of Paper Industry Specialists.
The speech aroused great interest among the conference participants. Representatives of Chinese companies Sinoling, Yunchou, Russian institutes KNITU, SAFU, as well as representatives of Segezha group made their questions on the report. Active discussion with the author of the report continued after the presentation. The participants of the seminar shared their opinions on the topics of the report:
- development of biorefining products in a theoretical (scientific) light; in terms of the importance of economic feasibility; and considering the reduction of negative impact on the environment.
- The importance of attracting young specialists to the pulp and paper industry (including by organizing visits of pulp and paper students to the modern enterprises of the industry in operation).
- necessity and importance of existence of such uniting organization as ASPPI.
The parties agreed to maintain the exchange of opinions on a regular basis.
The participants of the conference were: pulp and paper specialists from both Russian and Chinese sides, and scientists specializing in research and technological innovations, development and production of equipment for the pulp and paper industry.
